SUMMARY:USCG Barque Eagle in Salem
DESCRIPTION:The United States Coast Guard Barque Eagle is sailing toward Salem this summer!  She will arrive mid-morning on Friday\, August 9 and she will be in port a Salem Wharf\, 10 Blaney Street\, until August 12. \nEAGLE\, also known as “America’s Tall Ship” is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes and the only square-rigger in U.S. government service. The ship was built in 1936 in Germany\, and commissioned as Horst Wessel\, one of three sail training ships operated by the pre-World War II German navy. At the close of World War II\, Horst Wessel was taken as a war reparation by the United States\, recommissioned as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle and sailed to New London\, Connecticut. Eagle provides an unparalleled at-sea leadership and professional development experience for future officers of the U.S. Coast Guard. \nLearn more about Eagle here.

Skippers Meeting at 2:00pm\, Race at 3:00pm\, Pizza at 6:00pm\, Fireworks at dark. Beverly has decided to have their Heritage Days from August 2-11 and Salem this year is having their Heritage days for two weeks from August 2-11. \n  \nThat being said\, the Potluck Supper and Brownie Back-off planned for Saturday August 10th will now be held on August 17th at 6:00pm\, since it would be too much to have it all on one weekend. \n  \nI will post sign up sheets at the club with the correct dates and times.
