DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, Salem Willows Yacht Club approved the creation of a new adult boat share program. We aspire to provide more access to sailing on the North Shore for those who do not have a boat\, including those who may be newer to the sport.  \n\nSeveral of you have joined\, some of you have started the process\, some of you have expressed interest and some are supporters of the program. \n\nWe are excited to let you know that we’re back for the 2025 season\, that we are working to upgrade our processes and our Rhodes 19\, INDIGO\, to announce (some of you heard already last fall) the addition of a second Rhodes 19 (still to be named) to the fleet AND that we hope to be launching a third\, higher performance boat (Flying Scot) this season for qualified members (BIG THANK YOU to Beverly Sailing Association!). \nPlease come to our Open House on May 4 at 12:30 meet with others\, share ideas and learn more about this program and how you can participate: Salem Willows Yacht Club 165 Fort Ave Salem (in Salem Willows Park). \n\n\nRSVP much appreciated to clubboating@swyc.com to help us plan for having some snacks and beverage — but last minute attendees also welcome.

Topics include: \n\nWhat causes weather\nHow weather systems move\nWhy winds blow\nWhat clouds tell us\nHow storms and fronts create bad weather\nWhy fog forms\nWhere to get the best professional forecasts\nHow to refine them using your own observations\n\nPresentations will be on Monday evenings\, July 22nd and August 5th\, 7 to 8:30 pm at the club. Cost is $15 for SWYC and/or Power Squadron members\, $20 for others. You will get a 22-page reference guide containing a summary of major points covered in the slide presentations and including a table of forecasting tips and a list of internet weather resources. \nPlease sign up at the club or by email to alex_pszenny@my.uri.edu by June 14th. Be sure to note whether you want the reference guide or not and how many others will accompany you.

DESCRIPTION:As we are preparing our boats for the 2019 recreational boating season\, now is a good time to check your USCG required equipment an replace any equipment which is outdated or worn out.  The SWYC Annual USCGAUX Vessel Inspection day is scheduled for Saturday June 22nd\, from 8am until finished.  There will be “Federal Equipment Requirements and Safety Booklets” available inside the Club in advance of the June 22nd date.  Be sure to take a look at the requirements and purchase new flares or fire extinguishers in advance\, if needed.  A signup sheet will be posted on the Club Bulletin board on or about the first week of June.  For any information or questions\, please contact Steve Daly at ssdaly@verizon.net.    If you cannot make the inspections on June 22nd\, please contact Anne Olenio at clydeo300@comcast.net to schedule another day. \n  \nSteve Daly\, USCG Aux
