General Information & Membership Categories
The Salem Willows Yacht Club is a family oriented club incorporated in 1933 to encourage the sport of yachting, while providing and maintaining suitable facilities for the recreation and use of its members.
The SWYC season begins in early May and ends in mid October (exact dates vary slightly each year). Many social events occur each season including; opening and closing chowder parties, sailboat races, cookouts, covered dish suppers, cruises, and other special occasions.
Members and their families are encouraged to attend and participate in as many functions as possible. General information on the club and activities can be found at www.swyc.com
Launch service and/or tenders are available for members to reach their boats. Members are expected to provide their own mooring gear as directed by the Mooring Committee Chairman.

Types of Membership
There are six types of memberships: Full, Partner, Associate, Young Adult Full, Young Adult Partner, and Junior Partner.
Full Membership entitles the member and spouse the use of all club facilities and functions. This includes waterfront access to an owners approved mooring, as is permitted by the City of Salem Harbormaster.
Partner Memberships are for individuals who are partners or co-owners with Full Members, who maintain a boat at SWYC. Such membership allows the applicant to join the club without waiting for a vacancy. Partner Memberships have the same options as a Full Member, except the right to maintain a mooring.
Associate Membership entitles use of the clubhouse facilities; but NOT the use the docks, ramps, launch, tenders. This allows attendance at club functions.
Sponsorship by a Full Member is required to apply for Membership.
Young Adult Full same privileges as Full Membership
Young Adult Partner same privileges as Partner Membership
Junior Partner same privileges as Partner Membership
Work Assessment Requirements
- Each Full & Partner Member is expected to perform 10 hours of work each season or pay a work assessment fee.;
- Each Associate Member is expected to perform 5 hours of work each season or pay a work assessment fee.
- Senior members (age 65+) with 5 years of Full or Partner membership are waived such fee.
Most of the club maintenance is performed by the membership.
Dues, Fees, and Work Assessment are paid in advance of the season and must be postmarked by October 15.
