Member Al Pszenny will present a two-part U.S. Power Squadrons seminar that introduces the basics of our mid-latitude weather, professional forecasts and their sources, and the use of observations to refine professional forecasts. Topics include:
- What causes weather
- How weather systems move
- Why winds blow
- What clouds tell us
- How storms and fronts create bad weather
- Why fog forms
- Where to get the best professional forecasts
- How to refine them using your own observations
Presentations will be on Monday evenings, July 22nd and 29th, 7 to 8:30 pm at the club. Cost is $15 for SWYC and/or Power Squadron members, $20 for others. You will get a 22-page reference guide containing a summary of major points covered in the slide presentations and including a table of forecasting tips and a list of internet weather resources.
