Member Al Pszenny will present a two-part U.S. Power Squadrons seminar that introduces the basics of our mid-latitude weather, professional forecasts and their sources, and the use of observations to refine professional forecasts. Topics include:

  • What causes weather
  • How weather systems move
  • Why winds blow
  • What clouds tell us
  • How storms and fronts create bad weather
  • Why fog forms
  • Where to get the best professional forecasts
  • How to refine them using your own observations

Presentations will be on Monday evenings, July 22nd and August 5th, 7 to 8:30 pm at the club. Cost is $15 for SWYC and/or Power Squadron members, $20 for others. You will get a 22-page reference guide containing a summary of major points covered in the slide presentations and including a table of forecasting tips and a list of internet weather resources.

Please sign up at the club or by email to [email protected] by June 14th. Be sure to note whether you want the reference guide or not and how many others will accompany you.
