As outgoing 2023 SWYC Commodore, I am happy to report that the club is anticipating a budget surplus at the end of this season. Our Board Of Governors intends to use this money to fund our 2024 Long Range Planning line item by at least $8,000. We also hope to allocate a portion of 2024 dues receipts to continue to fund projected Long Range Planning projects. These Long Range Planning funds are designed to allow us to prepare for expected large scale Capital Expenditures like float and ramp replacement, potential new launch, club roof, etc. These capital projects are becoming increasingly expensive and we want to prepare financially as best we can now for projects down the road without having to resort to creating additional annual member dues assessments.
Your 2024 invoice includes an increase in your full member work assessment obligation from $200 to $250 ($100 to $125 for Associates). If you’ve worked your 10 hours (5 hours for Associate Members), or if you are exempt, you will not be affected. In addition, there will be no dues increase for the 2024 season.
